FAQ’s

What is your turnaround time?

Custom Projects take 10-14 Business Days from date of Artwork and File Approval. Keep in mind that if you need design work or pre-press help, that will add additional time to the timeframe, as this will delay the approval of the files.

What kind of files do you need?

Letterpress printing requires vector-based files with all text outlined prior to being sent. We prefer press-ready pdf’s and Illustrator files. If your design is one-color, then everything must be 100% Black in CMYK mode. Letterpress is not a 4-color process, so the colors you choose should not be in the file. If your file contains 2 or more colors, each color must be a Pantone Uncoated Spot Color.
On that note, when specifying your color choice, please use the Pantone Color Guide to let us know the PMS color number.

What is your Custom Design Process?

The Design Process begins with a general overview of what your ideas are. It would be helpful to see any images of stationery or prints that you are inspired by. Anything that might help show us visually what you have in mind will be very helpful, and cut down considerably on design time and revisions.
You can send these to debra@ancoraletterpress.com.

Once I receive your email, I will look it over and get back to you with an estimate of time needed to complete the design. Please note that this does not include print production time, in case you decide to move forward with that. With this design estimate will be a design Contract for you to sign. You will also receive an invoice for a nonrefundable designer retainer of $100. Once the contract is returned signed, and the invoice is paid, we can proceed with your design project.

All Design work, including Custom Stationery includes up to 3 major revisions and 3 fine tuning revisions. Additional revisions are billed accordingly.

Can I rush my order?
Rush fees are a percentage of your total printing cost or $100, which ever is greater. Rush order approval must happen before 10AM PST for the current day to be counted in the turn around time.
These fees account for the standard Rush Fees incurred from rushing orders on the raw material (such as paper, envelopes, film, and/or plates) needed to complete the project along with prioritizing your project up in our production schedule.
Standard rush fees are:

  • 3 business days – 75%
  • 5 business days – 35%
  • 7 business days – 25%

What does Letterpress printing cost?

That depends.
We base our estimates on final quantity, number of pieces in the project, size of the final project, how many colors or processes the piece has (1 or 2 color, scored, diecut, etc), and what kind of paper/thickness we’ll be using.
It’s kind of like asking how much dinner out will cost – it depends on what you order!

To give you ballpark estimates, to hold you over:
150 1-color 5×7 flat card on 110# Crane’s Lettra, would be roughly $580
250 1-color 3.5×2 business card on double thick cotton would be roughly $500
100 1-color wedding suite (5×7 flat card, 3.5 x 5 flat card -RSVP-, and envelope with address): $1200
50 1-color custom A2 notecards on double thick cotton with matching envelopes with address: $270

Additional processes (additional colors, diecutting, scoring, embossing) will be an additional charge.
